DMM Bitcoin Hack

The May 31, 2024 breach of Japanese exchange DMM Bitcoin, resulting in the unauthorized transfer of 4,502.9 Bitcoin valued at approximately $305 million. Attributed to the North Korean Lazarus Group, the attackers gained access to private keys and distributed stolen funds across multiple wallets before employing mixing services and cross-chain conversions. This incident ranks among the largest cryptocurrency thefts in history and highlighted continuing vulnerabilities in exchange security.
