Rocket Pool

Web3 / defi

Rocket Pool is a decentralized Ethereum staking protocol that enables permissionless staking through a network of independent node operators, maintaining Ethereum's core decentralization principle while lowering barriers to participation. Users can stake any amount of ETH (even 0.01 ETH) by depositing into the protocol's staking pool, receiving rETH tokens that represent their staked position and accruing staking rewards. Node operators only need 16 ETH plus RPL token collateral to run validators, and the protocol distributes rewards fairly across all participants while maintaining full decentralization without relying on a single company or custodian. Example: A user with 5 ETH deposits into Rocket Pool's staking contract, receives rETH in return, and earns full Ethereum staking rewards even though they couldn't normally run a 32 ETH validator, while decentralized node operators handle the technical requirements. Why it matters for DeFi: Rocket Pool represents truly decentralized staking infrastructure by removing intermediaries and enabling any token holder to participate in consensus security while maintaining the ability to swap rETH for other assets.
