The March 2022 security breach of the Ronin Network, a sidechain built for the NFT game Axie Infinity, resulting in the theft of approximately $615 million in Ethereum and USDC. Attributed to North Korean hacking group Lazarus, the attackers compromised private keys to authorize fraudulent withdrawals. This incident represented the largest cryptocurrency hack at that time and highlighted vulnerabilities in cross-chain bridges and gaming-focused blockchain infrastructure.
